General Description of Functions/Services

• Budget Development

Coordinate preparation of the Department's budget request. Provide support to operating Divisions in determining budgetary needs and preparing supporting information. Analyze budget requests and prepare briefing materials to assist the Secretary in communicating the needs of the Department to the Director, Office of Management and Budget, Controller General, Legislature, program advocates and consumers.

• Budget Tracking

Prepare budget analyses that track the changes in the Department budget from Request, thru Recommended to the Final Appropriated Budget. Prepare reports for submission to the Office of Management and Budget. Provide technical assistance to operating Divisions in managing resources throughout the fiscal year. Recommend strategies to ensure that resources are utilized and distributed effectively and efficiently. Maintain a historical archive of all budget information submitted to the Office of Management and Budget or the Office of the Controller General.
